Fibre to Ultra2 SCSI External RAID Controller

The SANArray Pro Fl is a host-independent external RAID controller that combines Fibre Channel and Ultra2 SCSI LVD. SANArray Pro Fl delivers twice the bandwidth and I/O performance of traditional Ultra SCSI RAID controllers.


External Storage Solution
The SANArray Pro FL is designed for departmental and enterprise NT and UNIX servers that require external storage solutions. Available in cost-effective simplex or active-active duplex configured for cluster environments, each SANArray Pro FL delivers over 4000 I/Os per second and 97MB/sec.

Fibre and Ultra2 SCSI Technology
Utilising the latest Fibre Channel host connectivity technology, the SANArray Pro FL permits higher bandwidth over greater distances than traditional SCSI. Fibre Channel delivers 100MB/sec data transfer rates over a 30 meter serial link, greatly simplifying cable routing and maintenance, and delivering unmatched performance while enhancing data reliability. By connecting the SANArray Pro FL to a fiber channel hub or switch, users can achieve highly reliable data transfers with distances stretching several kilometers.

Ultra2 SCSI LVD drive channel connectivity delivers 80MB/sec drive data transfer rates over a 12 meter parallel SCSI bus. This relieves IT professionals from  the limitations of slower and shorter drive channels, enabling greater storage flexibility and performance.

The SANArray Pro FL is extremely well suited for operation in a clustered environment. Dual active, automatic transparent failover-failback cluster support is provided via dual FC-AL (Fibre Channel Arbitrated Loop) channels. And with four wide Ultra2 SCSI LVD channels, the SANArray Pro FL is the flexible performance leader.

Performance/Features
The SANArray Pro FL is capable of sustaining disk transfer rates of over 52MB/sec and transfers data from cache at 97MB/sec. The SANArray Pro FL has dual loop host channels, providing an additional level of redundancy for high availability applications. The SANArray Pro FL implements a parallel processing architecture to maximise performance; the dual bus design allows data to be transferred in parallel between the controller and servers, and between the controller and disks. In addition, the SANArray Pro FL has a user data cache of up to 256MB. The cache may also be mirrored for additional fault tolerance. Either read-ahead, write-through or write-back options for each logical array provide versatile performance options.

Flexible Massive Storage
The SANArray Pro FL, with four Ultra2 SCSI LVD drive channels, supports up to 60 drives configured into as many as eight LUNs, allowing system configurations of over 1TB of high performance storage per controller. By utilising multiple SANArray Pro FLs, extremely large systems can easily be created, making SANArray Pro FL very suitable for SAN implementations.

For maximum convenience, the SANArray Pro FL is also field upgradeable with flash EEPROM. It supports RAID level 0, 1, 0+1, 3, 5, 10, 30, 50 and JBOD, offering maximum RAID level flexibility customisable to the user's application. The SANArray Pro FL provides customers exceptional ease of use and manageability with Global Array Manager™ (GAM) software.
