The KX-P8420 has Adobe® PostScript® 3TM emulation, and incorporates FieryTM GX Controller and Panasonic's Engine, offering powerful Colour creation and advanced productivity. Adobe PostScript3 Adobe® PostScript® is well-known at the world standard imaging technology for the use of colour, text, graphics or images. The KX-P8420 adopted the PostScript® 3TM, which is latest version, incorporating many new features such as 136 PS 3 fonts supports, new advanced features (ex. Smooth shading) and cross platform capability. Adobe® PostScript® 3TM realises high reliability.

Fiery Driven We partnered with EFI(Electronic for Imaging) to incorporate a FieryTM GX controller. FieryTM is the well-known technology behind digital printing, used for colour laser printers or copiers. Since colour matching is a key ingredient in colour performance, EFI has integrated the world's leading colour matching systems including PANTONETMTM, Windows® ICM and ColorSync. The FieryTM GX controller in this printer is PANTONETMTM Calibrated.

High Quality & Speed The KX-P8420 produces max. 1,200 dpi high resolution, full colour printed documents. You can see instantly the difference between true 1,200 dpi and 1,200 dpi equivalent, ao called, smoothing technology. And the speed is max. 4.7 ppm in 3 colour mode (CMY), 3.5 ppm in 4 colour mode (CMYK) and 14 ppm in B/W at 600 dpi. KX-P8420 satisfies you not only as a colour laser printer but also as a high-speed B/W laser printer.

Network Ready

The KX-P8420 supports multi-OS, multi-platform and multi-protocol. With a standard card for Ethernet, the KX-P8420 realises a wide variety of colour output under the office network environment.

ColorWise Business Colour The KX-P8420 offers a simple and flexible colour architecture (ColorWiseTM) that produces excellent colour results with default settings (ColorWiseTM Business Colour). It also allows you to customise your colour results using various colour controls. In accordance with your needs, you can select printing mode.

CRDs (Colour Rendering Dictionaries)


Press simulation setting can be used to simulate popular offset printing press standards: SWOP, Euroscale and DIC. When you select any of prepress standards, the PANTONETM colours are not available in the application. The PANTONETM colour matching system is a standard colour system for the graphic arts and prepress industries.

Using PostScript® driver, RGB data of images can be converted to the colour space and gamut of the KX-P8420 printer using RGB source profiles:

ColorWiseTM CRDs of the KX-P8420 take full advantages of the colour available. PostScript® 3TM RGB files are converted to printer's CMYK colour space during processing, optimising them for rendering and printing. CRDs available with the PostScript® driver include:

Colour Calibration
Colour Calibration Colour output is subject to change in temperature and humidity, and is prone to drift over time. The colour output of your Kx-P8420 is adjusted using three methods: Bias Adjustment, VisualCalTM and Colour Adjustment.

Basic Control (Engine)

The Bias Adjustment feature provides basic control over the KX-P8420's colour reproduction. You can adjust density of CMYK colours.
VisualCalTM is a calibration method that allows you to calibrate your printer to an ideal colour output standard. You can optimise the printer's range of colour density and adjust gray balance.

As you like...

The Colour Adjustment feature provides additional creative control. It allows you to adjust the overall brightness of colour output and the saturation of each colour.
We recommend these methods when you replace the consumables or when you realise that colour quality has deteriorated.

 

Fiery WebToolsTM
Fiery WebToolsTM allows you to control your printer remotely through the Internet or your company's internet. You can access and use the printer over the network from a variety of platforms. The KX-P8420 functions as an Internet or intranet server, and homepage, from which you can see select a variety of tools.

RIP-while-Print™ can process the 2nd page data while printing the 1st page. Continuous Print function removes waste time which comes from engine idling to starting between pages.

It is possible to print a single copy of a multiple copy job so that you can visually check before printing the remaining you need. The number of additional copies of the job to print can be set using the Check and PrintTM at the front panel.

Electronic Collation*
Electronic Collation allows the pages of each copy of a print job to be printed in sequence. You do not have to sort the printed sheets after printing.
Since the data is saved on the HDD, your PC can be released earlier than using application's collation feature. You can reprint the saved data later through WebSpooler.

* Check and Print™ and Electric Collation are available only on the printer with a hard disk drive.

Maintenance is a Breeze
Our Design concept is also that the KX-P8420 relieves you of troublesome maintenance. The consumables are cartridge-based so that it is easy to set up and simple to maintain. All toners and consumables are easy to replace in one easy step. When any consumable is running low, visual messages are displayed. The KX-P8420 has pixel counter which confirm coverage for appropriate maintenance.
