With a 25 GB (with 2:1 data compression) per 125 m DDS-3 data cartridge, the SDT-9000 provides a compact, cost-effective solution to the backup storage needs of data intensive systems.

High Speed Data Transfer
The increased linear density combines with Sony-original LSIs and precise tape control system to deliver a sustained data transfer rate of 2.4 MB/s (with 2:1 data compression). It provides a capacity to transfer rate ratio of 10,000:1, making it possible to meet the requirements of MIS managers for a shorter backup time.

Enhance Reliability
The implementation of the new Hyper Metal(TM) head can read back data at a higher signal output amplitude than the conventional ferrite heads used in DDS-2 drives. The signal-to-noise ratio is increased by approximately4 decibels and the error correction rate is also greatly improved.

Super Head Cleaner(TM) Mechanism
Sony's patented Super Head Cleaner mechanism prevents particle accumulation on the heads to minimize read/write errors.
